Holiday traditions bring families together, give us something to look forward to and add texture and rhythm to our lives. Backyard barbeques, festive parades and fireworks are all part of a patriotic tradition that so many Americans come together to celebrate each year on July 4th.

Whether you are celebrating old traditions or making new ones, celebrate the red, white and blue with friends and family in Richmond Hill. Check out some of the family friendly events and activities happening in our community this Fourth of July:

Celebrate American Tradition:  The city of Richmond Hill will hold its annual Independence Day celebration this Saturday, June 30th at J.F. Gregory Park. The event will begin at 4:00 p.m. with fishing, a car show, water rides and games for children, live music and a firework show at 9:00 p.m. will complete the night. Food and drink will be available for purchase and no alcohol or glass containers are allowed. Coolers are OK. This is a FREE event.

Troops of Fun:  Celebrate our nation’s birthday with Civil War troops at Fort McAllister, one of the most well preserved historic parks in Georgia. The troops will fire special salutes and games from this period in history will be offered up for guests to enjoy. Pack a lunch or family picnic and enjoy the outdoors at Fort McAllister. A Good Time with Good Company: If you choose to have a more relaxing Fourth of July celebration, there are several ways your friends and family can have some fun close to home. Whether you take the kids to the pool, invite friends over for a back yard barbeque or spend the afternoon making homemade ice-cream and watching a patriotic movie on the couch, the Fourth of July is a day for celebrating our freedom and commemorating history of our country.
